Speaker Bio: Katya Veleva, Mentoring Lead for Women in BIM Katya is a thinker, not a clicker. She provides both a strategic overview and technical capability for BIM, so that designers can dedicate all their resources to what they do best – design.As a consultant, Katya has supported world-renowned architecture practices such as Alisson Brooks Architects and Grimshaw Architects in their endeavours to deliver competitive digital information to their clients. She is working on Residential, Aviation and Master planning projects. Katya has happily shared her experience and knowledge publicly at various events in the UK and abroad. At the start of 2019, she taught a course on the Fundamentals of BIM at Aston University and currently she is leading the Women in BIM Mentoring Scheme.
In 2019 Katya was named one of the top 4 UK Construction Week Role Models among 400 applicants. Katya dedicates a lot of her time to promote diversity in the construction industry. Some volunteer organizations she has been involved with include The Stephen Lawrence Trust, Built By Us, Architecture LGBT+ and Grimshaw LGBT+.
