Dame Judith was appointed as Chair of EEF in April 2016.
Dame Judith was Chair of HSE from October 2007 to March 2016. She previously served as a Commissioner between 2002 and 2005. She was made a Dame in the 2015/6 New Year Honours for services to health and safety and engineering in particular for being a role model for young women. She was awarded a CBE in 2006.
Dame Judith is a chemical engineer and graduated from Imperial College in 1975. She worked in the chemicals manufacturing industry for 23 years before joining the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) in 1998. She became Director General of CIA (from 2002-2005) and then worked in Brussels for the European Chemical Industry Association (CEFIC).
She was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in July 2010 and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees. Dame Judith is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and was President of IChemE from May 2013 to May 2014.
Dame Judith is also Chair of SEMTA and senior non-Exec director of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.
In August 2017 Dame Judith was asked by DCLG to Chair an Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety and her final report was published in May 2018.

Geoff is qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and as a Fire Engineer and runs a firm of Approved Inspector’s. He is highly respected and experienced within the construction industry with over 30 years’ experience in both public and private sector roles. He has appeared frequently in the national and international press, TV and radio and has a regular column on Building Regulations in Architects Journal.
Geoff has specialist knowledge in High Rise Buildings, especially in those constructed in the 1960’s and 1970’s under the London Building Acts and CP3.
Winner of multiple awards including AI Legal Awards – Fire Safety Specialist of the Year 2013 & 2014, and Best Approved Inspector 2016 and 2017.

He is a Chartered Surveyor with 30 years’ experience in construction and real estate and has become a recognised international commentator on a variety of industry and policy related issues. Mark is a member of the Mayor of London’s Construction Skills Advisory Group, a board member for the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, a co-chair of Constructing Excellence, a trustee of the MOBIE educational charity and is an honorary professor at The University of Salford’s School of Built Environment.
Mark authored the influential 2016 independent government review of the UK’s construction labour model entitled ‘Modernise or Die’. He is a member of the newly formed Construction Innovation Hub Industry Board and chairs the MHCLG joint industry working group tasked with enabling more use of Modern Methods of Construction through better access to technical assurance, mortgage finance and insurance.
