BIM Strategy Manager

High Speed Two (HS2) Limited

Sonia295 x 215As the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Strategy Manager at HS2, Sonia is responsible for the strategic and consistent implementation of BIM across the programme with a view to increasing efficiency through design, construction, testing, operations and maintenance. Through digital disruption and innovation her aim is to push the boundaries beyond BIM to enhance traditional ways of working and build a true data-driven culture for HS2 and the wider industry.

Prior to HS2, Sonia helped Transport for London (TfL) to achieve BIM capability by developing and utilising standardised processes for the production, management and delivery of asset information. As a student she looked up to the likes of Larry Page, Ray Kurzweil and other computer scientists and futurists and hoped one day she could grow in the business work and apply Computer Sciences to everyday business to make it more effective. Today, she applies her theoretical grounding in Computer and Information Sciences and practical knowledge in BIM in the Rail and Construction industry.

Her passion is in bettering our business lives and simplifying the process of decision making through digitisation, standardisation, collaboration and use of latest technology, while keeping an eye on future developments.

She holds a PhD in Computer Sciences and BIM, a master degree in Business Information Systems Management and a BSc in Computer Networks Technology. She is a member of the CIOB and INCOSE and she actively supports the wider industry in the way of working groups, round tables, guest lectures and presentations. To her this is not just a job, it’s part of a visionary quest to make a real difference in the industry.
